A&Z Weekly News: 15-19 January

A&Z held the 2017 Annual Gala, which took place at the Blancpain Club in Xintiandi, Shanghai, on 18th January 2018.

The A&Z Annual Gala was an elegant and celebratory affair where everyone enjoyed an evening of cocktails, fine cuisine, entertainment, and live auctions. This year, 104 distinguished guests from places all over the world such as Japan, Germany, Poland, France, Spain, Canada, El Salvador, and more.

The aim of the event was to express A&Z’s gratitude to all those who had supported the Firm throughout 2017 in various forms, while creating a friendly and relaxed atmosphere for strengthening cultural exchanges and further developing potential partnerships.

In the beginning, Sophie An, Director of the Firm and Principal Partner, gave a speech about the 19th Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, which included crucial information on legal trends for cross-border investments. As a member of the Shanghai CPPCC for several years, Sophie has an excellent ability for assessing political changes. Sophie’s knowledge on the topic allowed for a more profound understanding of the domestic political environment directly associated to foreign businesses, and would ensure better counsel when clients are in need.

Vincent Zhu, Executive Director and Senior Partner, also gave a brief speech followed by the annual summary of A&Z events and activities of 2017 year. During his speech, Vincent expressed on behalf of A&Z team his sincere gratitude to our clients, partners and friends: without their support and trust, A&Z would not have been as successful as 2017 results showed.

During the event, guests had the opportunity to know each other, enjoy the evening, while appreciating some of the performances.
