Shanghai adds eight countries into quarantine list

Shanghai Municipal Government announced on March 16th, 2020, from March 17th, 2020, in addition to the coronavirus affected countries previously announced (South Korea, Italy, Iran, Japan, France, Spain, Germany and the United States), people who have lived or travelled in other coronavirus affected countries, including Britain, Switzerland, Sweden, Belgium, Norway, the Netherlands, Denmark and Austria within the 14 days prior to their arrival in Shanghai, must undergo 14-day quarantine at home or in designated places.

Passengers who entered Shanghai from overseas for a short stay (within one week) related to business and have a specific schedule and destination must take nucleic acid tests at the designated place in airport. If the test results are negative, passengers will be transferred to the designated hotels and conduct the business activities normally. Passengers will receive daily temperature screening during their business activities.

Highlights:

In order to prevent the epidemic from overseas, a guideline jointly issued by five central authorities (the General Administration of Customs, the Supreme People’s Court, the Supreme People’s Procuratorate, the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Justice) clarified the situation of disturbing the frontier health and quarantine, and violators will be punished for the crime in line with criminal law. The situation includes but not limited to refusing health checks, falsifying health statement cards and having faked symptoms by taking fever-reducing medication.

In order to avoid punishment, we called on passengers to cooperate with customs to receive health checks and fill the health statement cards accurately.
