It is with great pleasure that A&Z Law Firm with CEE Attorneys -its European Partner- co-invite you to take part in our seminar held in Shanghai on October 24th 2017. The event will take place from 15:00 to 17:30 p.m.

The significant growth of the Chinese economy has resulted in a rapid increase in Chinese overseas investments. In terms of overseas investment target areas, Central and Eastern Europe, which his developing closer economic ties with China, has attract the attention of Chinese investors. This European region, on the one hand, brings numerous investment opportunities, as Chinese investors would not only enter the full European market, but also connect “the Belt and Road” market through investing in the Central and Eastern Europe.

On the other hand, as new players in cross-border investments, Chinese investors could encounter various legal risks involved in the entire investment process. Understanding the existence of those potential risks, and taking preventive measures in advance, will be the main assignment for Chinese investors in the coming years.

The seminar will highlight relevant issues relating to overseas investment opportunities within the Central and Eastern Europe and the risks associated to those cross-border investment operations.

About Speaker


Zdeněk Tomíček, Founding Partner of CEE Attorneys, Partner of Prague’s office, Director of Expansion

Zdeněk graduated from the Faculty of Law at Charles University in Prague, the Czech Republic. In 2006 he joined DLA Piper, one of the world’s largest legal offices, where he worked also as a member of EMEA International Arbitration Team in the City of London. Zdeněk focuses particularly on corporate housekeeping and represents clients in litigation and arbitration, including international arbitration. Additionally, he provides legal services in the area of labour law and public procurement. Zdeněk provides services in Czech and English and is partially fluent in German and Russian.

 

Andrzej Szmigiel, Partner of CEE Attorneys office in Warsaw and a Member of Board of Directors

Andrzej graduated from the Faculty of Law and Administration of University of Warsaw. He conducted a number of prestigious purchase transactions for the purposes of developer’s investments for the biggest and most significant developers and property funds acting on the Polish market. He also has many years of experience in negotiating lease agreements in the most prestigious office buildings in Poland. Andrzej participated in many prestigious court disputes and M&A transactions. He is an arbiter by the Arbitration Court of the Warsaw Bar Association. He is fluent in English.

 

Andrew ZHANG, Partner of A&Z Law Firm and Head of European-American and Overseas Investment Desks

Andrew Zhang graduated from Shanghai Institute of Foreign Trade with a major in International Economic Law in 2000. After then he worked in the Logistics Department of Shanghai Jinghong Group and Angela Luo & Co., Lawyers. He was admitted to Chinese Bar in 2007 and joined A&Z Law Firm in 2009. In 2011, he obtained a Master’s Degree in Economic Law from East China University of Political Science and Law.

Mr. Zhang is mainly specialized in foreign investment in China, overseas investment transactions, M&A/corporate restructuring, litigation/arbitration, etc. He has been providing legal services for many well-known multinational companies such as Kimberly-Clark, HRS, DAMEN, Kan-pak, CPIC. He has undertaken important cases such as China Electronics Corporation acquiring the global mobile phone business of Royal Philips, and has assisted diverse multinational companies as Sumitomo, Kyowa Hakko Kirin, Daiichi-Sankyo, Valqua, NIHON DENGYO KOSAKU in their M&A and restructuring activities in China. Mr. Zhang has also been assisting Chinese companies on their investment projects in Hong Kong, Japan, Greece, Spain, among other regions.
