[News] Shanghai Will Lift Lockdown Restrictions from June 1
With Covid-19 outbreak brought under effective control in Shanghai, the municipal government announced the following points on orderly restoration of free access to residential compounds, public transport and motor vehicle traffic starting from 00:00 on June 1, 2022:
1. Restoring free access to residential compounds: except for the residential compounds in the medium and high-risk areas, lockdown and control zones, no district, sub-district/town, neighborhood/village committee, property owner committee or property manager may prohibit the residents from entering or leaving their communities freely on whatever grounds.
2. Restoring public transportation operations: the city’s public transportation and rail traffic network will restore basic operations. The ferries (including passenger transport to the three islands of Chongming District) will also reopen in an orderly manner.
3. Restoring motor vehicle traffic: the temporary electronic pass for vehicles shall be terminated with taxi-hailing and phone app car-booking services resumed as usual. Private cars and official cars are allowed to circulate on the roads as usual, in the areas other than medium and high-risk areas, lockdown and control zones. The existing rules for vehicles entering or leaving the city still apply.
